The Minority Business Accelerator (MBA) is a program of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Foundation designed to aide Black and Hispanic businesses prepare for growth. The MBA helps these businesses identify and overcome barriers, which often include limited access to capital, key decision makers, and information. By providing practical tools for change, program participants are positioned to increase capacity, create jobs and build wealth. Thus, creating a diverse and inclusive business community and acting as a catalyst to drive positive economic impact in Tampa and Hillsborough County, Florida.

The MBA aims to connect program participants to various sectors in the business community to increase market access. These include:

  • Companies (i.e. Corporations, Partnerships, Limited Liability Company, etc.)
  • Educational Institutions
  • Government Entities
  • United States Armed Forces

The MBA assists black and Hispanic businesses identify and overcome barriers to grow their business. Industry experts collaborate with program participants to determine what works and what doesn’t, while developing strategic, results-driven solutions specific to their unique business needs.


The MBA creates strategic access between Black and Hispanic owned businesses and those businesses seeking minority business suppliers. The MBA engages the business community to utilize local minority owned businesses through their supplier diversity efforts.


The MBA evaluates and provides ongoing support to program participants to ensure long term growth. Thus, leading to job creation, business prosperity, and economic inclusion in Tampa/Hillsborough County, Florida.

Common Misconceptions

The Minority Business Accelerator maintains a narrow focus to ensure program success. While there are many facets of accelerator programs, the MBA is deliberate in delivering a program that is clearly defined and committed to the objectives that achieve its mission. Therefore, the MBA is not/does not:

  • A Social Services program
  • A program for Startups
  • Guarantee funding, capital, contracts, etc.
  • Act on the behalf of MBA participants
