The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce regularly hosts several events a year designed to give our members a better understanding of key public policy issues that could have an effect on their businesses or the Tampa Bay community. In 2009, we held several Public Policy Roundtable events featuring speakers like U.S. Senator Bill Nelson.
Stay tuned to this section of our site for details on any upcoming Public Policy events or check our online calendar.

Breakfast with the Candidates
Date: Tuesday, February 1, 2011 Location: Hyatt Regency Downtown Tampa Attendance: SOLD OUT Webcast Views: 500 pages views TBO.com Coverage: 1,600 pages views
Event Summary: Breakfast with the Candidates welcomed all five mayoral candidates for a live question and answer session as a kick off to the active campaign season. The chamber’s event was the first of 24 other similar events in February across the city of Tampa. Through our media partnership, the event was promoted through online, print and broadcast advertising.
We solicited questions throughout January from Chamber members and the WFLA and TBO.com audience. Questions have arrived via email, Twitter, Facebook and video upload to TBO.com. Candidates were not made aware of the questions in advance. Moderator Keith Cate, evening news anchor of WFLA, covered topics including panhandling, trade with Cuba, transportation, job creation, government efficiency and others.
Follow-up coverage appeared in all local print publications and included residual coverage of Tom Scott’s call for an independent investigation of City water issues on broadcast news.
