Introduction As a business grows, the need for outside services and counsel typically increases. The Small Business Consultation Program was created by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Committee to help members by arranging free consultation opportunities to address their specific needs.
Scope & Benefits The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce offers all member companies the opportunity to receive up to 60 minutes of free consultation. The program is intended to be a win-win proposition for all participants. Consultants are qualified, professional Chamber members willing to donate their time to give fellow members assistance in an area of their expertise, with the added benefit of introducing themselves and their service capabilities in a personal setting.
How it Works The intent of the program is to provide preliminary direction and advisement to member companies experiencing a need for specific professional services or facing issues which will likely require outside counsel or assistance. Member companies are eligible for 60 minutes of free consultation in each area.
Process A company that wants to receive counsel or offer to consult can complete this request for information form. The company will then be contacted by the Chamber with either a request for information or a request to consult form, to more clearly define the nature of concern or area of expertise. The Chamber will then carefully match the need of the business to the appropriate counselor.
After determining the appropriate counselor, the Chamber will contact the counselor so that s/he can contact the company to set a day and time for the meeting.

The Chamber also offers a free Counseling Program in partnership with the Hillsborough County Small Business Information Center (SBIC), and in coordination with the USF Small Business Development Center (USF SBDC). Chamber members and non-chamber members can take advantage of free business counseling at the Chamber. On the second Tuesday of each month, a SBIC business counselor, certified by the USF SBDC, meets with business owners/managers in a one-on-one, scheduled session to review specific business concerns. The assigned Counselor will have the experience in the specific business issue requested, including marketing, business planning, human resources, and financing.
This partnership with the SBIC and USF SBDC enables the Chamber to offer support to companies that are experiencing a need for specific counseling. Based on the session, the Counselor may recommend to the business person additional resources to tap.
Free, confidential and individual appointments are 60 minutes in length. Appointments must be made in advance, by calling Charise Strandberg, Director Small Business Programs, at 813.276.9402.
