The Tampa Bay area continues to grow. Population growth is continuously on the rise and the Tampa Bay area is adjusting to the increase. To promote business expansion, five areas of the city are being redeveloped. These areas are seen to have the greatest potential for business expansion and economic development:
- Channel District
- Drew Park
- East Tampa
- Ybor City Area I
- Ybor City Area II
To assist with business expansion and economic growth for the community, the Tampa Chamber of Commerce developed The Committee of 100. Since its inception in 1954, The Committee of 100's prime objectives have been to enhance and diversify the economy, evolve employment opportunities, increase tax base, and sustain the quality of life. Currently, the key initiative of The Committee of 100 is the Local Business Retention and Expansion Program. Approximately 75 percent of our community's growth comes from our existing business base and start-up operations.
