Committee Descriptions and Chairs
Ambassador Committee
2010 Chair: Jayven Rappa (Consumer IQ, LLC)
Ambassadors serve as public relations support for the Chamber of Commerce. They assist the Chamber’s efforts to obtain, maintain and retain members through personal interaction and involvement.
Benchmarking Visit Committee
2010 Chair: Doug Dieck (Ryan Companies US, Inc.)
Plans and executes the annual delegation visit to a city of similar size to investigate new programs and initiatives and assesses/adapts its best practices to meet our growing needs.
Education, Employment & Economic Development Committee (E3)
2010 Chair: Marlina McClure (Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc.)
E3 focuses on leveraging the interdependency and linkages between education, employment and economic development for both our members and the Tampa Bay community.
Emerge Tampa Bay Program
2010 Chairs: Carissa Caricato (Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Inc.) and Ryan Freking (Studley, Inc.)
Emerge Tampa Bay will connect and engage emerging leaders ages 21 to 35 in activities that support our community and the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce while making Tampa, Hillsborough County and surrounding communities a more energetic, exciting and active place to live.
Golf Tournament Committee
2010 Chair: Fred Hames (Skanska USA Building, Inc.)
Plans the Chamber’s annual golf tournament, obtains sponsorships and prizes and recruits participants.
Leadership Tampa Program
2010 Chairs: Renee Benton Gilmore (Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc.) and Jeffrey Mount (Wright’s Gourmet House)
Members of Leadership Tampa are local business people who hold mid to upper level management positions within their companies or organizations. They also demonstrate concern for community issues and volunteer their time to three or more service organizations. The selection process is intensive, as the class size is limited to approximately 55 members.
Military Affairs Council
2010 Chair: MG Fred Raymond ( USA Ret./Suncoast Chapter Association of the U.S. Army)
Maintains positive relations with the men and women who serve at MacDill Air Force Base and the military in general.
Minority Business Consortium
2010 Chair: Jerry Mason (NorthStar Bank)
Develops and implements professional/business programs targeting the needs of minority and women entrepreneurs and provides an opportunity for their involvement and participation in Tampa/Hillsborough County’s economic development initiatives.
Mobility Committee
2010 Chair: Kimberlee DeBosier (Bayside Engineering, Inc.)
Reviews various transit projects in Hillsborough County and the region to provide input to the Chamber’s Board of Directors on those plans. Tasked with leading the Chamber’s efforts to support the proposed transportation one cent sales surtax on the ballot in November 2010. Provides input on business issues related to transit development in our region.
No on 4 Committee 2010 Chairs: Jose Valiente (LarsonAllen LLP) and April Monteith (Regions Bank) Tasked with leading the Chamber’s efforts to defeat Amendment 4 on the Fall 2010 ballot through the education of Chamber members and the Tampa community at large.
Policy Council
2010 Chair: Rich Junkermann (The Bank of Tampa)
Surveys key local constituent groups and Chambers members to identify legislative issues of high importance to the business community and constructs the annual Business Agenda. Monitors and keeps members regularly informed on pending legislation of business interest at the federal, state and local levels. Liaisons with elected officials representing Tampa and Hillsborough County.
Small Business of the Year Committee
2010 Chair: Scott Riley (Fintech)
Plans and executes the nomination and selection process of the Small Business of the Year awards and obtains sponsorships for the program.
Small Business Programs Committee
2010 Chair: Debbie Lundberg (Debbie Lundberg, Inc.)
Develops and promotes monthly roundtable and educational seminars with topics of interest to leaders of small to mid-sized companies, offering business owners both relevant information and networking opportunities.
Sporting Clays Tournament Committee
2010 Chair: TBD
Plans the Chamber’s annual sporting clays tournament, obtains sponsorships and prizes and recruits participants.
Urban Enterprise Initiative
2010 Chair: Scott Shimberg ( Hyde Park Builders)
Works as a catalyst to assemble the talents of the real estate development community, public and private financial sources, local government and entrepreneurs to create a plan for the revitalization of economically challenged areas in Hillsborough County by working to provide a climate for economic revitalization, redevelopment and business growth.
Women of Influence Committee
2010 Chair: Wendy Bowman (BlueCross BlueShield of Florida)
Plans the Chamber’s Annual Women of Influence luncheon, obtains sponsorships and prizes and recruits participants. (Invitation only.)
