Kim Scheeler President & CEO Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce

Scheeler took the post of president and CEO of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce in March 2001.  Since his arrival, the organization has experienced an improved period of financial stability and an increased diversity on its board of directors and executive committee. 

Scheeler has successfully streamlined the internal budget and managerial functions without compromising the Chamber’s commitment to the community or the effectiveness of its programming.  He has championed a new sales membership model that has brought financial success not only in terms of new members but more importantly in member retention.  He has also increased the resources available to small business members by presenting seminars and classes geared specifically to small business enterprise, further emphasizing their importance to the local economy.

A strong advocate for regional cooperation, Scheeler has developed strategies to strengthen relationships between the Chamber and community partners, advocate sound public policy and enhance the efforts of the economic development and investor programs.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Scheeler served as president and chief professional officer for the United Way of Hillsborough County.  During his six-year tenure there, he built the organization into a nationally recognized leader by increasing revenues and improving relationships with the 51 partner agencies that provide services in Tampa and Hillsborough County.  Before that he held positions with United Way in Indiana, Texas and Maryland.

Currently, Scheeler serves on the University of Tampa Board of Trustees, Tampa Bay and Company, Junior Achievement Board of Directors, Tampa Downtown Partnership Board of Directors, Florida Chamber of Commerce Federation Advisory Council, Tampa Bay Partnership Board of Directors, US Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, US Chamber of Commerce Emerging Technologies Committee, FACP Board of Directors and Executive Committee and University of South Florida’s Center for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of South Florida. Scheeler has been married to his wife, Donna, since 1980.
