CHAMBER HOLDS STRATEGIC PLANNING KICK-OFF MEETING

The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce held a kick-off meeting for its 2010 Strategic Planning process on Friday, January 22. The goal of the Strategic Planning process is to establish organizational priorities which will better serve the needs of Chamber members and encourage business success in the community.

““No company succeeds without clearly outlined goals,” said Chamber President and CEO Bob Rohrlack, CEcD. “This in-depth, strategic planning process will result in a concise plan for the organization that will have a measureable focus of responsibility to its constituency.”

Leadership from both large and small companies, representing Tampa’s diverse business community, are bringing their personal knowledge of the market to the table to help clarify the Chamber’s core business and refine its organizational focus.

To begin the planning process, Chamber leadership identified seven Working Groups to focus on the objectives of the organization. Each group has an appointed chair and/or co-chair who will serve as the lead volunteer to guide the process through regularly scheduled meetings from February through September. The Working Groups leadership includes:

• Brand - Evan Brownstein, Partner & Co-Chief Creative Officer, Bright Monkey Marketing, Inc.
• Talent - Holly Tomlin, President, Tomlin Tested Staffing
• Innovation - Stephanie Agliano, Director, Community Relations, TECO
• Quality Places - Vince Cassidy, CEO, Majesty Title Services, LLC
• Business Climate - Steven G. Burton, Managing Partner, Broad & Cassel and Candace Cusseaux, Associate, Cushman & Wakefield
• Infrastructure - Curtis Stokes, Community Affairs Manager, Fifth Third Bank
• Governance - Chuck Black, President, Black & Black Consulting Services, LLC

The Strategic Planning process is an opportunity for members to play a role in designing the Chamber’s future. In the coming weeks, more members will be recruited to support the Working Groups which are on track to complete and submit the final plan to the Chamber’s Board of Directors in late September.
