Library of Congress Country Studies
The Country Studies Series presents a description and analysis of the historical setting and the social, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of countries throughout the world. In addition, the Series examines the interrelationships of those systems and the ways they are shaped by cultural factors. Because the original intent of the Series' sponsor was to focus primarily on lesser known areas of the world or regions in which U.S. forces might be deployed, the series is not all inclusive.

The World Bank Group's Data Profiles and Country at a Glance Tables
The Country at a Glance tables present two pages of key indicators tracing the trends in social and economic development over the last three decades. Aggregates for each country's regional and income groups are also included. The Data Profiles provide detailed statistics for over 200 countries.

The World Factbook
In general, information available as of 1 January 2003 was used in the preparation of The World Factbook. The World Factbook has been an annual publication, but selected data and maps will be updated periodically during the coming year.

Background Notes
Background Notes are factual publications that contain information on all the countries of the world with which the United States has relations. They include facts on the country's land, people, history, government, political conditions, economy, and its relations with other countries and the United States. The Notes are updated/revised by the Office of Electronic Information and Publications of the Bureau of Public Affairs as they are received from regional bureaus and are added to the database of the Department of State
