 In 2007, the Chamber identified a growing demand from our members for programming designed to foster success among female business professionals in the Tampa Bay Region. Out of this need grew the Women of Influence Luncheon, an annual event designed to offer local women an opportunity to develop relationships and discuss issues specific to women in business.
Previous luncheons have welcomed Babara Corcoran (photo), real estate mogul and TODAY Show correspondent, Elizabeth Gilbert (photo), best selling author of Eat, Pray, Love, Deborah Fine, president of Digital Strategy for Universal Television Group, and Sarah Blakely, founder of SPANX. The luncheon annually sells out with an average crowd of 800 attendees.
The 2011 Women of Influence Luncheon featured Soledad O'Brien, acclaimed special investigations correspondent and host of CNN's In America documentaries. She delivered the keynote address at the event on October 19 at A La Carte Event Pavillion.
And, at the 2012 Women of Influence Luncheon, we will host Giuliana Rancic, entertainment journalist, fashion and beauty expert and television personality. The event will take place on April 25 at A La Carte Event Pavilion. The event is presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.
 Building on the success of the luncheon, the Chamber developed the Women’s Series and Pearls of Wisdom networking events to provide additional opportunities for business women to share their professional journey and strategies for success. Past speakers have included Ginger Hardage, senior vice president of culture and communication for Southwest Airlines, and Dawna Stone, acclaimed author and publisher of Her Fitness and Sports magazine.
To date, nearly 4,500 attendees have participated in the Chamber’s Women of Influence luncheon, Women’s Series luncheons and Pearls of Wisdom events.
First Annual Woman of Influence Award
The Woman of Influence Award was established to recognize a woman whose leadership has made a positive impact of Hillsborough County. It pays tribute to an individual who exemplifies outstanding professional values; demonstrates the ability to go above and beyond the normal expectations of a leader; and serves as an inspiration to the community. The inaugural award will be presented at the annual Women of Influence Luncheon on April 25, 2012 at the A La Carte Event Pavilion.
