Military Events

The Chamber hosts several annual military events each year to honor the local representatives of our nation’s armed forces. Read below for descriptions of the events or visit our event calendar to check for upcoming opportunities to support our local military.

2010 Military Appreciation Banquet
The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce honored our community’s military personnel at the 2010 Military Appreciation Banquet on Tuesday, February 16 at the Marriott Waterside. More than 500 attendees, including senior-level leaders of the U.S. Air Force, were in attendance.

Keynote speaker General Norton A. Schwartz, Chief of Staff, U.S. Air Force, and Mayor Pam Iorio participated in the presentation of awards to 22 civilian and military recipients. The event represented the 12th year the Chamber has recognized our local military personnel for both outstanding professional service and contributions to the greater good of the Tampa Bay community. 2009 Operation Partnership
Operation Partnership is designed to strengthen the ties between Tampa’s military and civilian communities by engaging local business executives and active military members. This half-day program on base includes lunch, a facilities tour and an opportunity to learn firsthand about the ongoing activities of MacDill Air Force Base.

2009 Veterans Day Ceremony
On November 10, the Chamber also hosted the 2009 Veterans Day Ceremony and Concert at the Joe Chillura Courthouse Square

Under the banners of more than 10 area color guards and honor guards, the Sam Rampello Downtown Partnership School chorus and band performed our national anthem and other musical selections. A history of Veterans Day and a reflection on the meaning of the holiday were shared by Lt. General Frank Kearney, Deputy Commander, United States Special Operations.

Our mission is to serve our members and enhance our community by building business success.
